    CHILDREN ARE ALWAYS GROWING AND CHANGING SO PLEASE BE SURE TO SEND US UPDATED PHOTOS AND SIZES SO THAT WE CAN BEST REPRESENT YOUR CHILD.
  • A CASTING IS AN AUDITION. THERE COULD BE TEN KIDS OR 500 KIDS. SOMETIMES THE CLIENT WILL HAVE CLOTHING TO TRY ON, OTHER TIMES IT'S JUST A QUICK PHOTO. EITHER WAY, BE PREPARED WITH SNACKS AND ACTIVITIES BECAUSE YOU COULD HAVE TO WAIT. 

    A REQUEST CASTING MEANS THE CLIENT HAS REQUESTED TO SEE YOU FROM YOUR PICTURE. IT IS NOT AN OPEN CASTING CALL AND YOUR NAME HAS TO BE ON THE LIST TO GET IN THE DOOR. TYPICALLY, THESE ARE SMALLER THAN A REGULAR CASTING AND LESS KIDS MEANS LESS COMPETITION.
    A BOOKING IS OUR FAVORITE WORD IN THE BUSINESS. THAT MEANS YOU "BOOKED" THE JOB. WHEN WE CALL YOU WITH A BOOKING, YOU MAY BE ASKED TO BRING WARDROBE AND SHOES. YOU SHOULD ALSO BRING TOYS AND BOOKS AND SNACKS TO KEEP YOUR CHILD OCCUPIED BECAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW HOW LONG YOUR JOB WILL LAST. YOU WILL ALWAYS NEED TO PRINT OUT A VOUCHER AND BRING IT WITH YOU FOR PAYMENT. 

    A DIRECT BOOKING IS A JOB YOU GET WITHOUT GOING TO A CASTING. SOMETIMES, A CLIENT WILL BOOK YOU DIRECTLY FROM YOUR PHOTO. THIS TYPICALLY DOESN'T HAPPEN TOO OFTEN WHEN YOU ARE FIRST STARTING OUT BUT AS CLIENTS GET TO KNOW YOU, THEY MAY DIRECT BOOK YOU BECAUSE THEY HAVE WORKED WITH YOU BEFORE AND KNOW WHAT THEY ARE GETTING. WHAT COULD BE BETTER THAN THAT?

    AN OPTION OR HOLD IS WHEN A CLIENT IS INTERESTED IN YOU AND WANTS TO PUT YOU ON HOLD FOR CERTAIN DATES TO MAKE SURE THEY HAVE FIRST DIBS ON YOU. WHEN WE CALL YOU WITH AN OPTION, MAKE SURE TO LET US KNOW IF THERE ARE ANY CONFLICTS WITH THE DATES. YOU WILL NEED TO MARK THESE DATES ON YOUR CALENDAR IN CASE ANOTHER CLIENT WANTS TO BOOK YOU AT THE SAME TIME. WHOEVER HAS THE FIRST OPTION GETS FIRST CHOICE ON WHETHER THEY WANT TO BOOK YOU. IT'S VERY POSSIBLE TO HAVE SEVERAL HOLDS PER DAY. THAT IS WHY IT'S VERY IMPORTANT TO STAY ORGANIZED AND KEEP THINGS WRITTEN DOWN IN YOUR PLANNER.
  • A VOUCHER IS YOUR FORM OF PAYMENT. YOU WILL BRING IT TO A BOOKING AND HAVE THE CLIENT SIGN IT WHEN YOU LEAVE. WITHOUT A VOUCHER, YOU WON'T GET PAID. YOU CAN PRINT THE VOUCHER FROM THE AGENCIES WE WORK WITH UNDER THE TAB MARKED "VOUCHERS."

    MAKE SURE YOU EMAIL OR SEND US YOUR VOUCHERS AFTER A JOB SO THAT WE CAN PROCESS FOR PAYMENT. KEEP A COPY FOR YOUR RECORDS UNTIL YOU GET PAID, AND FOR TAX PURPOSES LATER.
  • A COMP IS USED FOR MODELING AND IS SHORT FOR COMP CARD. IT'S A COMPOSITE OF SEVERAL PICTURES PUT TOGETHER ON ONE 5X8 CARD. IT'S BASICALLY YOUR CALLING CARD AND SOMETHING YOU LEAVE WITH THE CLIENT AFTER THE CASTING IS OVER SO THEY REMEMBER YOU. YOU DO NOT NEED TO HAVE A COMP CARD RIGHT AWAY. YOU CAN USE A PHOTO (PROFESSIONAL WORKS BEST)  UNTIL YOU HAVE OTHER PHOTOS OR WORK TO MAKE A COMP CARD. SOME PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHERS WILL SHOOT 4 DIFFERENT LOOKS SO THAT YOU CAN CREATE A COMP CARD. IT IS RECOMMENDED BUT NOT REQUIRED WHEN JUST STARTING OUT.

    A HEADSHOT IS USED BY ACTORS AND IS USUALLY 8X10 IN SIZE. ACTORS WILL BRING THEIR HEADSHOT WITH RESUME ATTACHED TO THE BACK TO AN AUDITION, THE SAME WAY MODELS LEAVE THEIR COMP CARDS.
  • SOMETIMES, A CLIENT WILL ASK THAT YOU BRING A SHOE BAG TO A BOOKING. THAT BASICALLY MEANS YOU THROW ALL YOUR NICE SHOES IN A SUITCASE SO THEY HAVE A VARIETY TO CHOOSE FROM. SANDALS, DRESS SHOES, BOOTS, SNEAKERS, FLIP FLOPS, ETC DEPENDING ON THE SEASON. WARDROBE USUALLY MEANS SHORTS  AND JEANS AND KHAKIS AND T-SHIRTS AND POLOS IN SOLID COLORS WITH NO COMPANY LOGOS. IT'S A GOOD IDEA TO HAVE CERTAIN WARDROBE THAT YOU JUST USE FOR MODELING SO THAT IT STAYS CLEAN AND FREE OF STAINS. SOMETIMES THE CLIENT WILL ASK FOR SPECIFIC ITEMS SUCH AS A PINK SUNDRESS OR A SKATEBOARD. JUST DO THE BEST YOU CAN.
  • UNFORTUNATELY IN THIS BUSINESS, NO NEWS IS USUALLY NOT GOOD NEWS...YOU WILL ONLY GET CALLED IF YOU BOOK THE JOB. OUR BEST ADVICE IS TO GO TO THE CASTING AND FORGET ABOUT IT. IF WE CALL YOU FOR A BOOKING, THAT'S THE ICING ON THE CAKE. LOOK AT EVERY CASTING AS AN OPPORTUNITY TO GROW AND GAIN EXPERIENCE AND YOU WILL BE SUCCESSFUL. PLEASE DON'T CALL US ASKING IF YOUR CHILD BOOKED THE JOB. YOU WILL BE THE FIRST TO KNOW IF THEY DO:)
  • SOMETIMES, IT'S ALL ABOUT THE SIZE. SOMETIMES THE CLIENT IS LOOKING FOR SPECIFIC TALENTS OR HOBBIES. SOMETIMES THE CLIENT IS LOOKING FOR A SPECIFIC LOOK. SOMETIMES THEY ARE TRYING TO MATCH A KID TO A FAMILY. IF THE CLIENT IS LOOKING FOR CAUCASIAN BOYS WITH DARK HAIR AND OLIVE SKIN, AND YOUR CHILD HAS RED HAIR AND FRECKLES, YOU WILL NOT BE CALLED. WE DON'T WANT TO WASTE YOUR TIME OR THE CLIENTS. 
  • THAT IS ENTIRELY UP TO YOU. IF THIS IS YOUR PASSION AND SOMETHING YOU LOVE DOING, THEN DON'T QUIT. JUST CONTINUE TO HONE YOUR CRAFT. GET UPDATED PHOTOS, TAKE SOME ACTING CLASSES, GO TO SOME WORKSHOPS, ETC. OBVIOUSLY, WE SAW SOMETHING IN YOU THAT MADE US THINK YOU WOULD BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS BUSINESS, BUT THERE IS A LOT OF COMPETITION AND SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO GO ON TWENTY AUDITIONS BEFORE YOU LAND ONE. 

    IT'S SO IMPORTANT THAT YOU DON'T ASK YOURSELF "WHAT DID I DO WRONG?" BECAUSE USUALLY, IT'S NOTHING YOU DID. KEEP A POSITIVE ATTITUDE AND IT WILL PAY OFF! 
  • WE UNDERSTAND THAT SOME THINGS ARE OUT OF YOUR CONTROL BUT PLEASE TRY TO BE ON TIME FOR CASTINGS AND ESPECIALLY BOOKINGS. YOU DON'T WANT TO UPSET A CLIENT BEFORE THE JOB EVEN STARTS. IF YOU ARE LATE TO A CASTING, IT SHOWS THE CLIENT THAT YOU DON'T TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY AND WHY SHOULD THEY HIRE YOU? TRY TO LEAVE EARLY TO ACCOUNT FOR TRAFFIC ETC. MOST CASTINGS GIVE YOU A WINDOW SO FOR EXAMPLE, IT'S OKAY TO SHOW UP ANYTIME BETWEEN 10AM AND 1PM. BUT IF YOU'RE RUNNING MORE THAN 10 MIN LATE, PLEASE CALL US AND WE WILL ALERT THE CLIENT. 
  • SOME COMPANIES CHARGE HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS (SOMETIMES THOUSANDS) TO GET STARTED AND THEN TAKE YOUR MONEY AND YOU NEVER HEAR FROM THEM AGAIN. IF A TALENT AGENCY ASKS YOU FOR MONEY UP FRONT FOR EXPENSIVE PHOTOS, ETC, RUN. THEY ARE PROBABLY NOT A COMPANY YOU WANT TO DO BUSINESS WITH. WE CHARGE A SMALL ONE TIME ADMINISTRATIVE FEE TO COVER OUR EXPENSES WHEN PROMOTING YOU TO CLIENTS, AGENTS AND CASTING DIRECTORS. THAT FEE ALSO GIVES YOU ACCESS TO US FOR ANY PROBLEMS OR QUESTIONS THAT MAY ARISE AS WELL AS OUR EXPERTISE AND GUIDANCE. AFTER THAT, WE WILL TAKE A SMALL PERCENTAGE OF YOUR BOOKINGS. WE WANT YOU TO SUCCEED BECAUSE WE DON'T GET PAID UNLESS YOU DO.
